Senior Commercial Lawyer

Sam was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2014. Before joining Balfour Meagher in 2023, Sam previously worked in a boutique law firm specialising in intellectual property and technology commercialisation, with a focus on assisting small businesses and start-ups to protect and commercialise their intellectual property (IP) assets.

Notably, Sam has worked on the following matters:

  • Acting for an engineer in an intellectual property ownership dispute against a former employer; and ·
  • Acting for a spare parts retailer in defence of an allegation of trade mark infringement against an OEM; and
  • Acting for a small business owner in defence of an allegation of unauthorised access to personal information before the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Background

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Sam previously worked in the freight forwarding industry from which he has gained experience in international shipping operations.

Outside of work, Sam is car enthusiast and an aviation enthusiast, and dabbles in aviation photography. Sam also maintains a keen interest in motorsport and Australian Rules Football.
